Most Popular Questions

Q1-1. I lost my license keycode. What should I do?

Please submit the following information via the contact form:
– The name and version number of the software you purchased.
– Purchase date (DD/MM/YY)
– Purchaser’s name
– Purchaser’s email address

After verifying the information, we will reissue the keycode for you.

Q1-2. Is there a version for Mac?

We apologize, but we do not offer a Mac version.

Q1-3. How can I create original models?

Pepakura Designer is designed for unfolding 3D models and does not have the capability to create original 3D data. You will need to design 3D models using another 3DCG software. Pepakura Designer can import the following file formats:
  • Metasequoia (*.mqo) * Highly compatible
  • Wavefront (*.obj)
  • 3D Studio (*.3ds)
  • Lightwave (*.lwo)
  • AutoCAD (*.dxf)
  • STL (Binary format) (*.stl)
  • Google Earth 4 (*.kmz, *.kml)
  • Hexa Great (*.6kt, *.6ks)
There are free 3D CG software options available that can generate supported file formats. These include Blender, and Metasequoia.

Q1-4. Do you have Iron Man files or the Halo 3 helmet?

We are a software developer.
We apologize, but we do not provide specific paper models. We suggest checking papercraft communities on the internet.

License

Q2-1. Does my license keycode have an expiration date?

No, your license keycode does not have an expiration date.
You can use it indefinitely and it also supports minor version updates. If you purchase a license key for Pepakura Designer 6.x.x, the keycode will remain valid for future versions of Pepakura Designer 6.x.x.

Import and Export (Data Exchange)

Q3-1. Pepakura Designer fails to import my 3D data.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please consider converting your data into the OBJ format, as Pepakura Designer is highly compatible with OBJ formats. The following converters might be helpful.
Open 3D Model Viewer (Windows Application)
Online 3D Converter (Online tool)

Q3-2. I would like to preview the data exported by Pepakura Designer before purchasing a license.

Pepakura Designer can export unfolded patterns in EMF, DXF, and EPS formats as vector data.
For instance, Adobe Illustrator can import these files.
You can download sample files exported by Pepakura Designer from the link below to check compatibility with your drawing software:

Troubleshooting

Q4-1. The toolbars have disappeared. How can I restore them?

Please go to [Settings]-[Reset to Default], and then restart Pepakura Designer.

Q4-2. Pepakura Designer does not print correctly.

One solution is to first export the file as a PDF and then print it using a PDF printer.
A widely used option is PDFCreator, which is free software.

Editing

Q5-1. I can only see a few edges on a 3D model that should have many edges.

By default, nearly flat edges are not displayed. This might be the reason.
If you wish to see them, go to the [Setting]-[Others] menu, then uncheck [Hide nearly flat folding lines].

Q5-2. There are many red lines on a 3D model, and I can’t unite them in the 2D window.

The red color indicates that the edge is not shared by two faces and thus cannot be united.
Please try to unite the edges located at nearly the same position in your 3DCG software.

Others

Q6-1. The unfolded pattern is too complicated. How can I reduce the number of pieces?

Pepakura Designer does not have the capability to reduce the number of polygons.
Please consider simplifying the model using another 3DCG software.
